Puffy Paint Recipes

This is puffy paint art.

Below you will see some variations of puffy paint recipes.  For this type of painting, the focus is more on the process of creating it rather than the finished product.

Shaving Cream

Kids love to paint with shaving cream.  This is very easy to do.  All you need is the shaving cream and some food coloring or tempera paint to mix in the shaving cream.  Be ready, though, because this will get messy and your kids will get it all over them.

Shaving Cream and Glue RecipeThis is a puffy paint snowman.

For this recipe, you will need some shaving cream and some glue.  Mix some shaving cream and glue together.  The measurements do not have to be exact.  You just want to make sure that the consistency is somewhat stiff and solid.  For example, if you put the mixture on a spoon it should stay on the spoon instead of flying right off.  You can add some powdered tempera paint to your mixture.  If you decide to leave it white, it would be a great snow project for making snowmen and snow scenes.  Just an idea you might like!

Shampoo Puffy Paint

This is a great recipe for puffy paint because it does not have the same odor of shaving cream, but instead the sweet smelling scent of perfume.  Take three teaspoons of shampoo and mix it with a small amount of water in a mixing bowl.  Next, you need to whip the mixture with an electric mixture until it looks like shaving cream.  Then add food coloring to your cream and start your painting.  Repeat for multiple colors.

You can add food coloring to puffy paint.

Puffy Paint Mix

This paint is terrific for kids because it is multi-dimensional.  It is also very easy to make.  First, get the ingredients you need:  equal parts of flour, water, and salt.  You will also need some liquid tempera paints in as many colors as you want.  If you do not wish to use tempera paint, you can also just add some food coloring to add the color you desire.  Once you mix the ingredients together, you can pour your mixture into squeeze bottles.  Repeat recipe for multiple colors.  You will see that once your paint dries, it will puff up.
